The Inspiration

From the Animal Series inspired by a trip to the San Diego Zoo with my daughter. Returning after several to the zoo, I felt it was time to continue the animal series. The animal series is not limited to wild animals, but all those that roam the earth.

My daughter also sent me a link to a podcast that talks about the first pack of wolves reintroduced to Yellowstone park, after there were no wolves left at the park and they realized the error in killing them cause havoc on the ecosystem.

The podcast was based on the book by Rick McIntyre, The Rise of Wolf 8: Witnessing the Triumph of Yellowstone's Underdog. There is a second podcast about Wolf 21 raised by Wolf 8, based on the same author's book titled: The Reign of Wolf 21.

Growing up I fell in love with St. Francis of Assisi and the story where he talked to wolf and asked him to stop terrorizing the town people of Gubbio.  St. Francis then talked to the town people and they agreed to feed wolf and wolf no longer ate their livestock. (Read full story)

Quick Note

A wolf’s howl is a method of communication that is the loudest when in harmony with others. A single wolf howl can be heard up to 10km.

A wolf’s hearing is twenty times better than a human’s.  Their long muzzle ends with a hyper sensitive nose, which is one hundred times better than a human’s.

The entire pack is expected to assist in childbearing. Their thick fur helps them survive the bitter climates.
